Jaffer Ali (died April 1975) was a papier-mache artist and entrepreneur from Hassanabad, Srinagar, Kashmir.

Career

Jaffer Ali received numerous awards, including one from Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, for his exemplary work in promoting Kashmiri handicrafts. His skills in the art descended through his grandfather who brought the papier-mache trade to Kashmir from Mashad, Iran.

Personal life

Jaffer Ali was survived by four sons and two daughters. One of his sons, Sadiq Ali is a politician in Kashmir.
